The leadership of the National Assembly is felicitating with Christians as they mark this year’s Easter festivities.
In their separate messages, both the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and the Speaker House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, enjoined Christian faithful and Nigerians to be fervent in their prayers for divine intervention to vanquish the dreaded coronavirus pandemic, heal the sick and renew the world and Nigeria.
The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, believes that if Christians and Nigerians draw the right lessons from the death of Jesus Christ on the Calvary and his resurrection, they will become more confident as the nation fights coronavirus and other trials that today test their faith.
“My belief is that this is a passing phase for Nigeria and the world and that our is a potent spiritual weapon for the pursuit of victory”.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, asked Christians to intensify their prayers that God Almighty would sooner than later eradicate this pandemic from Nigeria and the world.
In his own message, the former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, told the Christian faith to “go to God in prayer that his resurrection power may heal our nation and indeed a despaired world ravaged by COVID-19 pandemic”.
The leaders promised that the National Assembly would continue to provide legislative intervention to support and improve the efforts of government in this trying period and beyond.
The federal government had declared Friday and Monday public holidays in celebration of Easter despite the lockdown declared in many parts of the country owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
