Looters will be arrested, says Taraba deputy gov

The Taraba State Deputy Governor, Engr Haruna Manu, on Monday, said the state government would go after the people that looted government facilities and private property of citizens.

Manu disclosed this when he inspected the destruction at the Hope Afresh Foundation a non-governmental organization of the wife of the Governor, Anna Darius Ishaku, at Kona road in Jalingo.

The Deputy Governor who expressed disappointment over damages caused by the looters said the government will go after them to prevent a recurrence.

“This is really unfortunate. This is not government property. This is an initiative of the wife of the governor meant for the people of the state.

“The foundation is a training center that has done much for the people of the state. I am at a loss as to why the looters did what they did.

“As a government, we are certainly going to go after the looters and bring them to book to serve as a deterrent to others.

“We have directed security agencies to go after the looters to serve as a deterrent to others,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Taraba State Police Command has said they have arrested 23 suspected hoodlums in connection to the looting that took place in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP David missal, announced this while briefing journalists in Jalingo.
