Maiden Simulation training for Army officers open in Abuja

The Nigerian Army has begun a simulation training for its officers at the Mohammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri Abuja.

Tagged Battle Simulation Managers and Systems Operators Training, the exercise is aimed at boosting operational effectiveness while reducing cost in the Nigerian Army.

Declaring the event open, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, said the establishment of the Land Forces Simulation Centre Nigeria was premised on the need to deploy simulation technology for capacity building and force multiplication.

Represented by the Chief of Operations and Training, Nigerian Army, Major General Eneobong Udoh, the army chief said the essence of the training was ”to have a professionally responsive Nigeria Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles.”

He urged the participants to make use of the period to maximize the gains associated with the training.

Earlier, the Director General Land Force Simulation Centre, Major General, Clement Olukoju, said the objective of the training was to ensure that participants are taken through the rudiments of battle simulation technology, enhance capacity in areas of doctrine research, and operational analysis using the MASA Simulated Wargaming for operational readiness and doctrine software.

He added that participants at the training would form a credible database for Nigeria Army Simulation Managers that would closely liaise with the land forces Simulation Centre on all simulation exercises of their formations.

The maiden training of simulation managers and system operators was organized by the Nigeria Army in collaboration with MASA Group of France, led by the Chief Executive Officer, Marc de Fritsch, who facilitates the training.
