The National Human Rights Commission in Kano State says it received 172 complaints of alleged human rights abuses in September.

The NHRC state Coordinator, Alhaji Shehu Abdullahi, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Kano.

He said that “122 of the cases had been treated, while 50 are pending.”

Abdullahi said 130 cases bordered on the rights of children and women.

He explained that “32 of the cases received during the period under review were on abandonment of family responsibilities and domestic violence, with 10 cases on economy and cultural rights, labour and physical violence.”

He further explained that the commission also mediated on marital matters between couples.

He, therefore, urged couples to be patient and to manage their responsibilities with humility.
