The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu on Thursday expressed hope of victory on December 15 at the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court will on December 15 hear the appeal of the Federal Government against the judgment of the Appeal Court that discharged and acquitted Kanu of all terrorism charges levelled against him.

In 2022, the appellate court declared as illegal and unlawful Kanu’s abduction from Kenya to Nigeria and quashed the entire terrorism charges brought against him by the Federal Government.

The court held that the Federal Government breached all local and international laws in the forceful rendition of Kanu to Nigeria, thereby making the terrorism charges against him incompetent and unlawful.

In a judgment in an appeal by Kanu, by Justice Oludotun Adefope-Okojie, the criminal charges by the Federal Government against Kanu were voided and set aside.

Displeased by the ruling, the Federal Government headed to the Supreme Court to contest the ruling of the Appeal Court.

The apex court had fixed December 15 to deliver judgment on the matter.

Kanu expressed hope of winning during his routine meeting with his legal team at the Department of State Services, DSS, facility in Abuja.

This was disclosed by Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, in a post on X.

According to Ejimakor: “UPDATE: Today, the Lead Counsel, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN) led my humble self & Prince Mandela Umegborogu on a crucial visitation with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the DSS. Expectedly, Onyendu was well pleased with the recent stunning victory at Enugu & he expects no less on Dec 15 at SC.

“Upon the pogrom, you seized their properties in Rivers, cheated them on State creation, starved them of roads, railways & seaport, renditioned their Leader & called them a dot. Now, you trouble them with #demolitions. But you still wonder why they #agitate. Why not? #FreeMNK.”
