NSE: Investors Lost N85.8 Billion, As Trading Opened After Easter Holidays.

After Friday and Monday Easter holidays, Trading opened on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Tuesday with an Eighty-Five Point Eight-Billion-naira loss.

The Equity capitalization fell from Twenty Point Three-Six Trillion to Twenty Point Two Eight Trillion; an Eighty-Five Point Eight Billion naira fall.

The loss was driven by a Fifteen Kobo and a Two Kobo fall in the share prices of UAC NIGERIA and ZENITH BANK respectively which also traded high volume of shares.

Other equities that traded high volume of stocks with a decline in their share prices include GUARANTY TRUST BANK, UBA and GUINESS.

The All Share Index therefore fell by Zero Point Thirty-Nine percent, closing at Thirty-Eight Thousand Seven hundred and Sixty-Six Point Six-One Points. This was a fall from Thirty –Eight Thousand, Nine Hundred and Thirty Point Six-Eight Points traded on Thursday.

Other market indices also closed red, with the volume falling to Two Hundred and Twenty-Four Point Five- Nine Million from Two Hundred and Thirty -Nine Point Four Million shares traded on Thursday.

The value similarly fell to Two Point One Billion from Two Point Three Billion.

The market sentiment was negative as there were Twenty-Two losers against Fourteen gainers.

On the activity chart, UAC NIGERIA traded the highest volume of shares with over Thirty-four Million Shares, valued at Three Hundred and thirty-seven Million naira recorded. ACCESS, FIRST BANK OF NIGERIA HOLDINGS, ZENITH BANK AND FIDELITY BANK were other companies that traded high volume of shares.

On the performance chart, ZENITH BANK led the financial sector with Sixteen Point Five-Eight Million shares, valued at Three Hundred and Sixty-Four Point Three Million naira.

Dangote sugar dominated the consumer goods sector, trading over sixty-eight point three million what of shares.

JULLIUS BERGER and ETERNA PLC led the construction sector and oil & gas sector respectively.

ETERNA PLC was the top gainer while MRS OIL NIGERIA PLC led the loser’s side.
