Trading on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange began on Monday with an impressive increase in the equity capitalization.
Last week, there was a consistent upward movement in equity capitalization with the bulls dominating the market.
The equity capitalization rose from nineteen point two four trillion naira to nineteen-point five-eight, a three hundred and thirty-three point eight billion naira.
The All Share Index also closed at thirty-seven thousand four hundred and forty-three point four zero points. This was a rise from thirty-six thousand eight hundred and four point seven five points at close on Friday, a one point seven four percent rise.
The volume of stocks that exchange hands were four hundred and twenty-seven point one million, which was valued at three point three one billion naira at the close of business on Monday.
There were thirty-seven gainers and twenty-three losers on the activity chart, with BOC GAS topping the gainers side.
Eterna plc however, led the losers.
Zenith bank equity was the most traded, trading twelve point two five million shares in four hundred and seven deals.
Guaranty trust bank stood behind zenith bank. It traded eleven point one million share worth three hundred and seventy-two point two six million naira, in a three hundred and sixteen deals.
