Chairman-designate of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Governing Council, Ntufam Hilliard Eta, has expressed confidence that the board will soon be inaugurated, saying he remains “patiently waiting” for the formal process.

Eta, whose appointment was announced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in January this year, spoke on Thursday when members of the Tinubu/Shettima Grassroots Independent Campaign Council (T/SGICC) Media Directorate paid him a courtesy visit at his Abuja residence.

The former APC Acting National Chairman and immediate past National Vice Chairman (South-South), who also served as Director of Media for the T/SGICC, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, insisting that its policies and appointments have the capacity to significantly reshape governance outcomes if fully implemented.

He disclosed that the delay in inaugurating the NYSC board stemmed from what he described as an administrative communication gap between the Ministry of Youth and the Presidency.

According to him, the issue should be “corrected or overlooked” by the Minister of Youth, Ayodele Olawande, to enable the board to commence work.

“I must thank the ICC Media Directorate for this visit,” Eta said. “However, it is pertinent to inform you that my board is yet to be inaugurated since my appointment in January. I discovered that the delay was due to administrative lapses in communication channels between the Presidency and the Ministry of Youth.

“I look forward to my board being inaugurated within the shortest possible time.”

He appealed to the APC national leadership, the National Assembly, the Presidency and other stakeholders to ensure that the Renewed Hope Agenda delivers on its promises.

Eta also hinted at his plans for the NYSC, stressing the need for corps members to acquire at least one practical skill during their service year to enhance self-reliance.

Coordinator of the visiting team, Dr. Mariah Olasehinde, said the courtesy visit was also to remind their former director that members of the T/SGICC Media Directorate worked tirelessly for the success of President Tinubu’s presidential bid but had yet to receive any recognition or reward for their efforts.

Members of the media team present included Ibraheem Hamza Muhammad, Umma Yunusa, Jide Babalola, Bukie Okangbe, Dr. Akaninyene Sandy, Johnchuks Onuanyim, Yakub Aliyu and Emeka Nwankpa.
