Ogun Govt Seals Petrol Station For Alleged Underground Water Pollution

The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency has sealed Arolat Petrol Station, along Ayetoro Roundabout Road in Abeokuta, the state capital, pending the conclusion of investigation on alleged underground water pollution.

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency, Farouk Akintunde, saying that a petition was received by Foursquare Gospel Church located beside the petrol station in Abeokuta.

The special adviser maintained that the petition revealed that the church’s only source of water supply which is a well has been contaminated with Premium Motor Spirit.

He noted that the enforcement team of the Agency sealed up the facility to carry out proper investigation, such as identification of contaminated areas, extent of the contamination and ascertaining the present underground water status.

“As a responsive and responsible agency, the safety and wellbeing of our people is paramount and must not be compromise for any reason,” he  Said.
