Ondo Amotekun Rescues Two Kidnapped Fulani Herders, Recovers Cattle

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has rescued two young Fulani herders who were abducted by suspected kidnappers in a forest along the Ondo–Edo boundary.

The victims, Abubakar Umaru and Abdullahi Umaru, were reportedly tending cattle in Owo Local Government Area when they were seized and taken into the forest.

State Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, said the operation was launched after the boys’ parents reported that they had failed to return home with their cattle.

According to him, operatives first recovered the cattle before tracing the abductors deep into the forest linking Ondo and Edo states, where they successfully rescued the victims.

Adeleye said the kidnappers fled the scene after discovering that security personnel had surrounded their hideout.

He commended residents for providing timely intelligence that aided the rescue operation and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to protecting all residents without ethnic or religious bias.

The Amotekun commander stressed that the corps treats all criminal suspects equally, regardless of their ethnic background, insisting that crime has no ethnic identity.

The successful rescue comes amid sustained efforts by the Ondo Amotekun Corps to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
