The early morning petrol tanker fire which happened on Owerri Road, Onitsha on Friday has razed four buildings and destroyed property worth millions of naira.
Our earlier report on the tanker which fell on a bad portion of the road, causing serious fire had indicated that a number of vehicles were burnt and commuters stranded.
Latest reports say hoodlums attacked firefighters who attempted to put out the fire claiming that owners of petroleum tankers plying that axis do nothing for the communities.
As the firefighters escaped from the hoodlums, one of their vehicles fell into a ditch while the fighters escaped leaving the fire to raze buildings.
The gridlock caused by the fire has grounded commercial activities up to Upper Iweka in Onitsha main town.
