Police Arrest Five Suspected Car Snatchers in Abuja
The FCT Police Command has arrested five suspects for car snatching and armed robbery along the Gwagwalada and Wuye axis of Abuja.
In a statement by the command spokesman, Yusuf Mariam, Police Operatives from Wuye Division arrested one Abdullahi Haruna 25 years and members of a four-man robbery gang terrorizing Wuye axis. The suspects stated that they are responsible for snatching phones, bags and other accessories along the Stadium area. Exhibits recovered from the suspects are one red colour Gulf car, four mobile phones, two sharp knives and three reflective jackets.
The suspects confessed that the syndicate operates by disguising themselves as stranded passengers to lure their unsuspecting victims(motorists). Other Exhibits recovered include; one blue colour Toyota Corolla, one locally fabricated pistol, and six rounds of live ammunition. The Police Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Mariam, noted that effort is in place to arrest other suspects. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation, she added.
