POLICE ARREST FOUR PERSONS IN CONNECTION WITH THE MURDER OF STUDENT OF ALEX EKWUEME FEDERAL UNIVERSITY

The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested four persons in connection with the abduction and death of Magnus Okeke, an extra year student of the Department of Accountancy in Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike, Ikwo, in Ebonyi State.
 
The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu who confirmed the incident said investigation is ongoing to unravel whether his death is connected to cult activities, murder or kidnap for ransom.
 
According to the University Management, Magnus Okeke was abducted on June 1, when returning to his private hostel located at a remote Ohankwu village of Ndufu-Alike Community.
 
The Public Relations Officer of the University,  Ikechukwu Ubochi, said the decomposing body of Magnus was  recovered on Monday, 17th June, under the bridge of Ako stream at Nwakpu village, along Ikwo/Abakaliki road after efforts by the University Management that worked closely with the police and other security agencies to ensure his safe rescue from his suspected captors.
 
He further maintained that there was no cult-related war in the university campus where Magnus was killed as being insinuated in some quarters and appealed to anyone with useful information that could ad in the investigation to come forward and assist the authorities.
 
The abduction and death of Magnus Okeke is coming barely one month after one Miss Favour Ugwuka, an extra year student of Ebonyi State University was reported to have committed suicide over repeated failure of a lecturer’s course.
