Police Dismiss Alleged Organ Harvest Incident in Enugu Hotel – Watch Video
The Enugu State Police Command has dismissed reports of an alleged organ harvesting attempt at a hotel in Enugu, following the circulation of a viral video.
In a statement, the Enugu Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, clarified that the two women found tied up in a hotel room were not victims of organ harvesting. According to preliminary investigations, the incident involved extortion and fraud, not murder or organ harvesting.
The investigation revealed that the women, who are commercial sex workers, had met with the suspects on July 3, 2024, at a hotel along Agbani Road, Enugu. They had another appointment the following day, during which the suspects beat and tied them up in a hotel room toilet, threatening them and taking their phones and bank account details, including Personal Identification Numbers (PINs).
The suspects then fled the scene before the women were rescued, as seen in the viral video. They managed to withdraw a total of ₦120,000 from the victims’ accounts.
The police have recovered a bag containing two kitchen knives and sportswear left behind by the suspects. An investigation is underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Hotel owners and managers have been advised to maintain high security standards, ensuring that guests are properly screened and their verifiable details obtained before accommodation.
Additionally, young women are cautioned against going out with unknown individuals, particularly men, to avoid falling prey to similar crimes.
