South African detectives are investigating the death of five people in Cape Town’s Khayelitsha Township after a shooting incident on Wednesday.
South African Police Service said in a statement on Wednesday that police were summoned around 400 hours GMT to a shooting incident in Ncumu Street where the bodies of four males and one female were discovered with gunshot wounds.
The statement said the deaths could be linked to an incident in the early hours of the day when another person was shot and killed in the same vicinity.

The identity of the victims and the motive for the shooting were unknown as at the time of this report.
