The African Union, A.U, has enjoined President Muhammadu Buhari, to remove the bad eggs in his government to ensure success in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.
The A.U said this through the Nigerian representative at the Economic, Social and Cultural Council, ECOSOCC, Dr Tunji Asaolu.
ECOSOCC expressed worry over the reported alleged cases of the involvement of top government officials and institutional corruption going on in Nigeria.
Addressing a coalition of the Civil Society Organisations, CSOs, on the anti corruption posture of the Nigerian government in Abuja on Friday, Dr. Asaolu reminded President Buhari of his resolve to end corruption in the country, asking him not to disappoint Nigerians.
Noting that corruption is an enemy of development, ECOSOCC which is a consultative Civil Society and platform for people from African States, enjoined the Nigerian leader, who is the anti corruption champion for Africa to “remove the bad eggs in his government and call his house to order”.
Insisting that President Buhari is respected globally, Dr. Tunji Asaolu who said he had been receiving letters from the CSOs since the week appealed to them to not to take laws into their hands and desist from taking to the streets in protests at the slightest provocations.

Earlier, Splendour Agbonkpolor, of the Initiative for Leadership and Economic Watch in Nigeria, who spoke on behalf of the CSOs, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to address the myriad of issues of graft being leveled against government officials.
Alleging that corruption had eaten deep into the fabrics of Nigeria, Agbonkpolor expressed displeasure over the revelations from the recent probe of the IMC of the NDDC, saying more disgusting findings may emerge if MDAs are to be investigated.
He wants the government to ensure that public officers allegedly accused of corrupt practices step down for investigation and possible prosecution if found culpable.
Comrade Jacob Okpanachi, Director General, Accountability and Good governance Initiative decried the deepening curve created by corruption in Nigeria, adding that most of the agencies associated with corruption issues are usually govt owned.
The Civil Liberty Organisations, CSOs, urged the President to overhaul the anti graft agencies, MDAs, the North East Development commission, NEDC, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund NSTIF, and especially the NDDC, saying that corruption will sink the nation if nothing is done urgently to address it.
