RevolutionNow: Court orders Buhari govt to pay Sowore N200, 000, give reasons

An Abuja Federal High Court has ordered the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami to pay the sum of N200, 000 to Omoyele Sowore, convener of RevolutionNow Movement.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu gave the order while faulting Malami for attempting to delay proceedings and proper commencement of Sowore and Olawale Bakare’s trial.

The trial judge lambasted the AGF for making several false statements in a bid to delay the trial.

Sowore and Bakare are currently facing charges bordering of treasonable felony and cyberstalking.

The Department of State Services, DSS, had arrested Sowore and Bakare after calling for a revolution protest on August 5, 2019, over the alleged failure of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government.

Sowore was later picked up on August 3, 2019 and remanded in the custody of the secret police until December 5, 2019 when he was finally released, despite several court orders granting him bail.

It was earlier reported that both Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka and Shehu Sani, former Kaduna Central Senator were in court to show their solidarity to Sowore at the resumed trial.
