Abuja security alert: Armed robbers threaten to unleash mayhem on residents


Palpable fear gripped residents of Mpape community, a suburb of Abuja following the receipt of a letter purportedly written by armed robbers notifying them of an impending attack.

A copy of the letter as seen by Signature TV on Wednesday has no date for the attack but those behind the letter advised residents to keep at least N100,000 when they come around or be prepared to face severe consequences.

The letter which was titled, “Business Operations was largely scattered on the street of Mpape.

Police Rescue Two Abducted Bethel Baptist School Students


Two of the abducted students of Bethel Baptist Secondary school in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been rescued by police operatives.

They were rescued on Wednesday evening by police operatives in Rijanna area along the Kaduna-Abuja highway.

Last week, the police rescued one of the students inside a forest, while two were rescued on Wednesday, thereby bringing the number of those rescued to three.

When contacted, the spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, Mohammed Jalige, said that the two abducted students were have been taken to a police medical facility where they are undergoing medical examination.


Eid-el-Kabir: Police raid black spots in Lagos, arrest 103 hoodlums


Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command raided black spots in Oshodi on Eid-el-Kabir celebration and arrested 103 hoodlums and miscreants with dangerous weapons.

A statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi on Wednesday said the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, had ordered the Tactical Commanders and Commanders in charge of the Rapid Response Squad and Taskforce, to go after hoodlums and miscreants who might want to create security threats and attack unsuspecting Lagosians during and after the Eid-El Kabir celebration in Lagos State.

Adejobi said the Commissioner of Police also ordered that the hoodlums be charged to court accordingly as the command planned more raids of such black spots in the state.


Igboho’s extradition hearing holds today


A court hearing over the extradition of embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho by the Beninoise authorities will hold on Thursday by 10 am at a Beninoise Court.

Igboho is currently held by operatives of Brigade criminelle in Cotonou.

The self-acclaimed freedom fighter was not brought to Court for the hearing by the Beninoise authorities as the court hearing scheduled for Wednesday failed to hold.

Igboho’s spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki in a live update on early Thursday, explained that his principal’s hearing will hold on Thursday.

Ex-president Jacob Zuma granted leave from prison


South Africa’s jailed ex-president Jacob Zuma was granted compassionate leave from prison on Thursday so he can attend his brother’s funeral, the government said.

Inmates in South Africa are usually allowed to attend relatives’ funerals a right denied to the country’s first black president Nelson Mandela when he was in jail for fighting the apartheid regime.

Zuma, 79, was sentenced to 15 months in prison for contempt of court last month after snubbing graft investigators probing his presidency.

The funeral for Zuma’s brother Michael who died at age 77 after a long illness, according to local media is expected to take place later on Thursday in Nkandla, where Zuma is particularly popular.
