Court Grants Igboho’s Aides Bail

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to the 12 aides of Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Delivering the ruling on the application filed by the 12 applicants before the court, the presiding Judge, Justice Obiora Egwuatu, said it is clear that no charge has been brought against Sunday Igboho’s aides since their arrest.

Eight of the applicants were granted bail in the sum of N5million each, while the remaining ones were granted bail in the sum of N10 million each with two sureties who reside in Abuja. #

Troops Avert Attack in Zango Kataf LGA in Kaduna, Arrest One Suspect

Troops of Operation Safe Haven, on Wednesday, averted an attack by gunmen on a village in Zangon Kataf local government area in Kaduna State.

According to the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, the gunmen invaded some fields in Magamiya village, shooting sporadically. The troops who were on ground responded to a distress call, mobilized to the village and engaged the assailants, successfully repelling them.

A resident of the village was however hit by a stray bullet during the attempted attack and is receiving treatment, while one of the attackers, was arrested and is in custody for interrogation and further investigation. #

FG Approves $1.4bn For Rehabilitation of Warri, Kaduna Refineries

The Federal Executive Council has approved contracts for the rehabilitation of Warri and Kaduna refineries at a cost of $1.4 billion.

The breakdown shows that $897 million is earmarked for the Warri refinery and $586 million for the Kaduna refinery, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, told newsmen after the Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday.

According to Sylva, says the rehabilitation of the refineries will be carried out in three phases.

The FEC also approved the $2.76 billion acquisition of 20 per cent minority stake by the NNPC in Dangote Petroleum and Petrochemical Refinery. #

 

WHO Urges COVID-19 Vaccine Makers To Keep Prices Down

The World Health Organization on Wednesday urged COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers to keep their prices low and affordable, after reports that two producers will raise the cost, they are charging the European Union.

Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna are upping the prices for their messenger RNA vaccines because they have adapted them to the new virus variants, according to reports.

The Pfizer vaccine will jump from 15.5 euros to 19.5 euros and Moderna from 19 euros to 21.5 euros, citing the contract concluded with the European Union.

Mariangela Simao, the World Health Organization assistant director-general for access to medicines, vaccines and pharmaceuticals, told a press conference on Wednesday, it’s very important that we have companies state policies of affordable prices.

She said both Pfizer and Moderna had increased their manufacturing capacities, diversified their plants and increased production line efficiency. #

PUMA Terminates Four-Year Contract with Nigeria

German sportswear manufacturing giants PUMA has terminated its four-year contract with the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.

In the letter of termination of Sponsoring and Licensing Agreement, issued on Wednesday PUMA said, we are referring to the licensing and sponsoring agreement signed between our company and your federation.

The termination of the deal comes amidst an alleged leadership tussle between the Ibrahim Gusau-led AFN board and that headed by the Minister for Youths and Sports, Sunday Dare.

Consequently, the minister is said to have vowed that the Nigerian Athletes will not wear the PUMA kits. #
