SIGNATURE TV PARTNERS ADVOCATES FOR RIGHTS OF OLDER PERSONS IN NIGERIA

The Coalition of Societies for the Rights of Older Persons in Nigeria (COSROPIN) on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to Signature communications limited operators of Signature TV.

The visit was to discuss areas of partnership on the sensitization of Nigerians on the plight of older persons and the provisions of the ‘Older Persons (Rights and Privileges) Bill, 2020.

The project manager of COSROPIN, Nita Oshai said older persons were once the pillars and builders of the nation and her economy and ageing is to advocate for improved welfare and rights of the older persons

The Chief Executive Officer of Signature TV VinMartin Obiora Ilo welcome the laudable initiative of advocating for older persons while decrying the unfortunate situation of a country like Nigeria who have no proper plan for older people.

He however expressed the readiness of Signature TV to partner with COSROPIN to achieve the objective of highlighting the needs of old persons.

The Communications Director OF COSROPIN Petra Ologundudu invited the Chief Operating Officer of Signature TV, Nwabueze Njoku to become a member of the organization since he celebrated his 75th birthday recently.

Responding Mr Njoku observed that loneliness was one of the challenges faced by old people in the society and urged the NGO to let their advocacy fit into the local culture, tradition and needs of older persons in Nigeria.

Present at the meeting were, Head of office Signature TV, Saheed Hassan, and Head of News, Damilola Abudu.
