2023: Jonathan breaks silence as Miyetti Allah purchases APC presidential form for him

Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan has said he didn’t authorize the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential nomination form purchased for him by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association.

The group on Monday procured the forms for Jonathan in Abuja, but reacting through a statement issued by Jonathan’s spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze, he said the former president had no link to the northern coalition that purchased the form.

According to him, buying a presidential aspiration form in his name, without his consent, knowing the position he had held in the country, was considered an insult. 

 

Petrol scarcity worsens in Federal Capital Territory

The scarcity of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, worsened in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Black market dealers had a rosy day as they sold a litre for N450 and 10 litres for N4,500, making many motorists to have no other option than to purchase it.

The Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Malam Garba Deen Muhammad, attributed the situation to low loadouts at depots which usually happen during long public holidays like the Sallah celebrations.

However, the group said it has 2.5billion liters of petrol in stock that could last 45 days. 

 

2022 UTME: JAMB reveals next action before releasing result

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) has said about 1.4 million candidates have so far sat for its 2022 exercise across the country and that their results would soon be released.

The board revealed this in its Weekly Bulletin of the Office of the Registrar on Tuesday, in Abuja. It, however, reiterated its zero tolerance for examination infractions and urged candidates to conduct themselves properly, while following its rules.

JAMB said the results for its ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) was undergoing a form of scrutiny before being released to candidates.

Stella Oduah arrives court for arraignment on N7.9bn corruption charges

A former Minister of Aviation, Stella Adaeze Oduah has arrived the Federal High Court in Abuja to take her plea in the alleged N7.9 billion fraud charges brought against her by the Federal Government.

She is to be arraigned before Justice Inyang Eden Ekwo, alongside two other women and four companies for conspiracy, money laundering, and maintaining anonymous bank accounts.

Among the companies is the construction giant, China Civil Engineering Corporation CCECC.

 

FIFA orders NFF to pay Rohr over N156m compensation for terminating contract

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, will pay former Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr 378,000 dollars for sacking him before the end of his contract.

Rohr was sacked in December just four weeks to the commencement of the delayed Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and was replaced by Austin Eguavoen.

Although the NFF had agreed to pay the Franco-German tactician’s salary until the end of his contract, Rohr dragged the NFF to football’s world governing body FIFA to demand an additional sum for breach of contract without just cause.
