Speaker Abbas mourns Emir of Zuru, Maj. Gen. Sani Sami
The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Emir of Zuru, His Royal Highness, Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami (rtd).
The late Muhammadu Sani Sami, who became the Emir of Zuru in 1995, died in a London hospital on Saturday, aged 81.
Describing the death of the monarch as painful, Speaker Abbas said the late Emir of Zuru was a unifier and a peace-loving royal father who provided purposeful leadership to his people.
In a condolence message through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, the Speaker said the late royal father left behind a legacy of selflessness, dedication, and commitment to the well-being of his people and beyond.
He said the late Emir of Zuru was one Nigerian who served the country with uncommon patriotism when he was in the military, particularly during his time as the Military Governor of Bauchi State, and continued on the same trajectory after he ascended the throne of the Zuru Emirate.
The Speaker noted that the royal father died at a time his wise counsel was needed, saying he would be sorely missed.
Speaker Abbas sent heartfelt condolences to the people and government of Kebbi State, particularly the Zuru Emirate, over the loss.
He prayed to Allah (SWT) to have mercy on the soul of the late Emir of Zuru and give the people the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
