Stolen NUJ Bus: NUJ disappointed with Police.
The Correspondents Chapel of the NUJ Rivers State Chapter has expressed disappointmentthat no suspect has been arrested following the theft of the Chapel’sToyota bus.
The bus was stolen by suspected armed robbers three weeks ago.
On Friday March 11, 2022 four armed men attacked the residence of the Chairman of Rivers NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel, Amaechi Okonkwo carting away his personal belongings and the Toyota Hummer bus with registration number NUJ 001 CC/RV belonging to the chapel
In a press statement signed by Amaechi Okonkwo, Chairman and Chidi Ohalete, Secretary of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ, the body expressed disappointment that no arrest has been made concerning the incident neither has the bus been recovered since the complaint was lodged at the police station.
The Chapel also called on the state Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday, to mobilise his officers and resources to intensify the search and recovery of the bus, as its absence has made the job tedious for their members.
According to our Port Harcourt correspondent, the bus which was donated to the correspondents in 2016 by the state Governor, Nyesom Wike has always been of great assistance to journalists in their official and social engagements within and outside the state.
