Suspected armed bandits have invaded Yanbuki village in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing seven persons.
A source, who confirmed the attack to journalists on Wednesday, said immediately the bandits arrived in the village, they opened fire on anyone sighted, and considering their large number, residents became sceptical and ran away for their safety.
“We have conducted the burial of seven (7) people who lost their lives to the attack in Yanbuki,” he said.
“They have been ransacking houses room by room throughout the night, burgled shops carted away goods and foodstuffs belonging to the residents of the area.”
According to the source, the bandits rustled about 500 cows, and 1,000 sheep and goats, and stole many other valuable goods.
He noted that this was the second attack by the bandits since the shutdown of the telecommunications network in the Yanbuki area.
But the police authorities are yet to react to the attack.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Muhammed Shehu, was not responding to several phone calls put across to him.
