Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state may dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) any moment soon. According to sources the hunger for a second term in office in 2023 is the major reason behind the governor’s move to the APC.
Matawalle had posted on his Facebook page that there’s no guarantee of a second term if he remains in the PDP.
Matawalle’s fight to secure the governorship ticket of the APC is already causing tension in the Zamfara state chapter.
PDP however, insisted that they are in the dark about the planned defection of Governor Matawalle from the Party.
Meanwhile Matawalle on Thursday said the protests led by Reno Omokri against the medical vacation of President Muhammadu Buhari in London, United Kingdom, was an attack on northern Nigeria.
The Governor charged northern leaders to speak out against the protests, adding that they should not be ashamed of defending their people and protecting their interests.
