Ukraine Signals Openness To Future Talks Despite Ongoing Strikes, Highlighting Fragile Peace Prospects
Ukrainian officials say Russian drone attacks have again struck the southern port city of Odesa, leaving multiple civilians injured and damaging key infrastructure, as fighting intensifies across several regions.
Authorities in Odesa report that at least 11 people, including two children, were wounded after drones hit three districts of the city. Residential buildings, vehicles, warehouses, and a hotel were among the structures affected, while parts of the port and a funicular railway also sustained damage. Emergency services have since been deployed to manage the aftermath, with officials documenting what they describe as war crimes.
In the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, local officials confirmed one fatality following continued shelling, with hundreds of strikes reported across dozens of settlements in a single day, causing widespread destruction to homes and infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Russian-installed officials at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant claim a Ukrainian drone strike killed a staff member at the facility, which remains under Russian control but is currently not operational.
Across the border, Russian authorities also reported casualties and damage in the Belgorod region following alleged Ukrainian drone attacks.
