Unknown Gunmen attack scrap dealers in Imo, kill two
The so-called ‘Unknown Gunmen’ perpetrating mindless killings in the South-East region have attacked a scrap scavengers’ neighbourhood in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State.
It was gathered that two persons were murdered in the attack which happened on Thursday afternoon.
A source said: “Two people were murdered in cold blood by masked gunmen. The young men were poor metal scavengers in the community. The murders happened today (Thursday) in Ngor Okpala.
“These senseless killings have to stop.”
Another source said: “This afternoon (Thursday), a Toyota car drove down to a spot where some young men do buy and sell scrap, opposite Ngor High School, and opened fire on people.
“Two people died while others were rushed to the hospital.”
Thursday’s attack in Imo was the latest violence in the region where separatist violence is on the rise.
Efforts by this newspaper to get comments on the Ngor Okpala crime from Michael Abattam, the state police spokesman, were unsuccessful.
