The Nigerian Police is currently witnessing a rough time in its history as the force is being attacked across their various units and formations in the country
The sudden attack on police formations has left so many police personnel wounded, some dead while the government’s resources are wasted.
Finding a solution to Nigeria’s internal security problem, protecting the lives and property of Nigerians, and now having to deal with protecting themselves against faceless gunmen has become a thing of worry for the Nigerian Police.
The Nigerian Senate has adjourned plenary to April 14th, over the death of two members of the National Assembly.
This followed the adoption of a motion by Senate Leader, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi and seconded by Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe on Tuesday on resumption from its two weeks recess.
Two members of the National Assembly, Mr Haruna Maitala, who represented Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency of Plateau and Mr Suleiman Aliyu Lere, of Lere Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, died on April 2nd and 6th respectively.
President of Senate, Ahmad Lawan, while putting the motion to a voice vote which was unanimously adopted, described the demise of the two lawmakers as another sad development for the national assembly. The Senators thereafter observed a minute silence in honour of the deceased before adjourning plenary to April 14th. #
Former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki has distanced himself from campaign posters that flooded the city of Abuja on Tuesday.
In a statement by his media aide, Yusuph Olaniyonu, he said he neither printed the posters nor assigned anyone to do so on his behalf.
The posters had Saraki’s photograph, “Reset Nigeria 2023”/ “vote Saraki for president” slogan and Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) logo
Saraki was a former President of the Senate and one-time Governor of Kwara State from 2003 to 2011#
The Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai has stated that his government is an institution organized to deliver public goods, not to only appease the interests of the persons employed to help deliver mandate.
He stated that his Government sacked four thousand workers at the council level because of the decreasing financial resources while stating that the job cuts will extend to political appointees.
In a statement released by media adviser Muyiwa Adekeye, he stated that the revenue from the Federal Government, from mid-2020, till now, has left little money to spend on other things that are the concerns of government, like healthcare, schools, roads and others, therefore, leaving the state government no choice but to reduce the size of the public service since the public service requires much fewer persons than it currently employs. #
Days after eight kidnapped members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, had been released, the General Overseer of the Church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, met with the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai.
The meeting which had top cabinet members of the state as well as top RCCG officials was held at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna.
Members of RCCG, Region 30, Trinity Sanctuary, Kaduna, were attacked on March 26th near Doka along the Kachia-Kafanchan Road, on their way to a programme.
Subsequently, Adeboye had on April 8 said all the eight kidnapped members of the church were taken to hospital for examination after they regained freedom. #

The cryptocurrency market has grown exponentially in 2021 to Two trillion US Dollars as it increasingly attracts interest from big names on Wall Street.
This was disclosed in the specialist site Coinmarketcap, which listed more than Nine Thousand different cryptocurrencies.
Despite bitcoin’s volatility and limitations as a means of payment, it is being seen as a store of value to rival and even one day potentially surpass gold as a super investment in the face of high inflation.
Also, Banks and payment services such as Paypal allow transactions in certain digital currencies and Almost Eighteen point seven Million bitcoins have been created since the first block of 50 in early 2009.
After bitcoin’s value crashed in 2018 it however rebounded and has smashed records since late last year rising from around Twelve Thousand U.S Dollars in October to over Sixty-Two Thousand US Dollars on Tuesday.
Numerous cryptocurrencies seek to compete with, or complement, bitcoin.
These include Ethereum closely competing with bitcoin, which also hits an all-time high above Two Thousand US Dollars. #
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) report says that a total of 27 pipeline points was vandalized in January 2021 down from the 43 points recorded in December 2020.
This indicates a Thirty-seven point two-one per cent decrease in cases of pipeline vandalism across the country in the month of January 2021.
This is contained in the January edition of the NNPC Monthly Financial and Operations Report (MFOR), according to a press release by the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the Corporation, Dr. Kennie Obateru.
According to reports, the Mosimi Area in Ogun state accounted for Seventy-four per cent of the vandalized points while Kaduna Area and Port Harcourt accounted for the remaining Twenty-Two per cent and Four per cent respectively.
The NNPC said it is working continuously working in collaboration with the local communities and other stakeholders to reduce and eventually eliminate the pipeline vandalism menace. #

The exiled former President of Burkina Faso, Blaise Compaore, is to be tried for the murder of the man he ousted in a 1987 coup, Thomas Sankara, lawyers told newsmen on Tuesday.
The case was sent to the military tribunal in the capital Ouagadougou after the charges against Compaore and the other main alleged perpetrators were confirmed, 34 years after the death of the cult figure, often called the African Che Guevara.
Lawyer Guy Herve Kam said Compaore and 13 others were being charged with harming state security, complicity in murder and complicity in the concealment of corpses.
Among the accused is General Gilbert Diendere, Compaore’s former right-hand man and a former head of the elite unit, the Presidential Security Regiment (RSP), at the time of the coup.
Diendere is currently serving a 20-year sentence in Burkina Faso for masterminding a plot in 2015 against the west African country’s transitional government.
Sankara took power in a coup in 1983 but was killed on October 15, 1987, when he was 37, in a putsch led by Compaore, who was himself ousted in 2014 by a popular uprising after 27 years in power.
An arrest warrant was issued against Compaore in March 2016. He currently lives in Ivory Coast, where he fled after being toppled and where he has since taken nationality.

The Billboard, Music Business Worldwide data has shown that Streams of the catalogue of songs belonging to the late rapper, Earl Simmons a.k.a DMX, has gone up by Nine Hundred and Twenty-Eight per cent in the United States.
The data shows that his tracks raked in 75.7 million on-demand streams (audio and video) on April 9th and 10th up Nine Hundred and Twenty-Eight per cent compared to the 7.36 million they earned on April 7th and 8th.
DMX died at the age of 50 last Friday from a “catastrophic heart attack” which followed what was suspected to have been a case of a drug overdose.
Before April 2, his songs were streamed between 700,000 and 1 million times daily. Between April 3 and 8, they rose up to 4 million per day.
In music sales, Billboard also quoted the report as stating that DMX’s collected songs and studio albums sold up to 101,000 copies between April 9 and 11 – up 1,036 per cent compared to the 9,000 sold between April 6 and 8. #

The Captain of Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos, has tested positive for the coronavirus ahead of their UCL quarter-final clash against Liverpool on Wednesday night at Anfield.
Ramos did no feature in the first leg tie against Klopp’s men due to a calf problem.
However, Real Madrid defeated their English opponents by 3-1 victory at home.
The 35-year-old Spanish will be in self-isolation for 10 days following Covid-19 quarantine protocols and will exclude him from the squad that face Liverpool on Wednesday night, Getafe, and Cadiz.
Ramos’ last appearance for the club was during the second leg of the champions league round sixteen against Atlanta. #
