Imo Gets New Commissioner of Police as IGP Makes Changes

Abutu Yaro has been appointed the new Commissioner of Police for Imo State by the acting Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba.

Abutu is expected to take over from C.P Nasiru Mohammed, who was redeployed to Western Port Authority, Lagos in January.

Recently, the police stations in Imo have come under repeated attacks, including the State Police Command headquarters and the Nigerian Custodial Centre which led to the escape of hundreds of inmates from the correctional facility.

The IGP, while charging the newly posted officers to bring to bear their professional experience in improving policing and restoring public confidence in their new places of assignment, assured citizens of the determination of the Force under his leadership to upscale its operations, improve public safety and tackle all forms of crimes in the country. #

 

  1. Two killed, many escaped death in Abuja attack

It was a dark moment for residents of Mpape Community, a suburb of Abuja as a group of unidentified hoodlums attacked the area in the early hours of Sunday, killing two persons and injuring many.

The hoodlums attacked residents close to Baby village market around 3 am and later proceeded to a nearby house in the community and carried out what could be possibly described as an assassination attempt.

An eye witness said that the hoodlums forced their way into one of the residences in the community.

  1. Doctors to Suspend Planned Friday Strike – Gbajabiamila

Members of the National Association of Resident Doctors have hinted that they are ready to suspend their planned resumption of strike on Friday, according to a statement signed by the spokesman to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The doctors suspended the strike on April 10 but warned that they would resume the action if the government failed to honour its agreement.

The doctors’ apparent reversal was made after they met with the Speaker and the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire on Tuesday. #

Man Arrested For Defiling 10-Year-Old Daughter

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 52-year-old man, Kayode Adeniyi for allegedly having carnal knowledge of his 10-year-old daughter.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the police spokesman in the state, disclosed this via a statement issued on Tuesday, noting that the arrest followed a report lodged at the Agbado Divisional Headquarters by the victim’s aunty.

It was gathered that the suspect threatened to kill his daughter with a knife if she made any noise.

Following the report, Agbado Divisional Police Officer, CSP Kehinde Kuranga, detailed his detectives to the scene, where the suspect was promptly arrested. #
