PDP chieftain berates El-Rufai over hike in fees
A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lawal Adamu Usman, has berated Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai over a hike in tuition fee in the state’s tertiary institutions.
Usman, who was a senatorial candidate for Kaduna Central in 2019, described the move as wicked and an attempt to deprive the citizens of their fundamental right to get educated as most of the indigent students would drop out.
He lamented that the policies of the El-Rufai-led government did nothing to reduce pressing economic problems of impoverished masses, rather placed a large segment of the society into scorching anguish of poverty.
He further added that the reason why states are created is to take care of the welfare of the people and provide an environment conducive to enable them to realise their potentials which included basic welfare needs is education.
Addressing reporters yesterday in Abuja, Adamu urged the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) not to relent in its agitation against the mass sacking of civil servants by El-Rufai.

The Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Mohammed Sani Musa, yesterday, condemned the activities of bandits in the North and the attacks on Northerners in other parts of the country allegedly by men of the Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN).
He urged Northern and Southeastern leaders to speak up and condemn the violent activities of terrorist groups perpetrating the acts.
Senator Musa, in a statement in Abuja, noted that the unusual silence of leaders in the Southeast has become disturbing following the continuous attack on innocent and law-abiding citizens as well as security personnel and critical infrastructure in the country by the notorious men that have come to be known in the media as the “Unknown Gun Men.”
