2023 Presidency: Another Igbo group dares Ohaneze, warns blackmailing aspirants from other regions

A group, Igbos for Progressive and United Nationhood (IPAN) has warned the Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohaneze Ndigbo, to stop blackmailing those who have the interest to run for presidency from other regions in 2023.

IPAN in a statement issued on Wednesday stated that even though it strongly believes that 2023 was the perfect time for a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction to emerge, it did not believe in arm twisting Nigerians to make an Igbo man President or telling other aspirants from outside Igbo land to drop their presidential ambitions.

The National President of IPAN, Comrade Lawrence Onuzulike stated that every Nigerian who meets the constitutional requirement to contest for the office of the President was eligible to do so regardless of the region he or she comes from.

 

Governor Zulum: ISWAP could be more dangerous than other terrorist groups

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has said that the Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP, terrorist group should not be undermined, warning that the portray more danger than other terrorist groups.

Zulum who spoke on Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he appealed to the military to ensure it defeats ISWAP, hinted that the terrorist group are more sophisticated, more funded and they are more educated.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says ECOWAS Heads of State have reiterated their firm position that there is absolutely no excuse for a change of government by coup d’etat.

 He said this on Thursday after attending the ECOWAS Extraordinary Summit on the political situations in Burkina Faso, Mali and Guinea in Accra, when he represented President Muhammadu Buhari at the summit.

According to him, as far as ECOWAS is concerned, the only way of changing government in the region, acceptable to all of the protocols and the political rights of the people is through election.

Germany alongside Israel and several European countries on Thursday recommended a fourth coronavirus vaccine for countries with high-risk infection

Germany’s STIKO vaccine commission said a top-up shot for the most vulnerable was necessary after recent data showed that protection against the currently circulating Omicron variant fades within a few months of the first booster vaccination.

It said the fourth jab should be given to people over 70 and anyone over the age of five with a weakened immune system as well as to those working in medical and care facilities to limit the impact of quarantine and illness on staffing.
