Army Generals Depart Abuja, Charged To Secure Their Commands To Avoid Enemy Surprise Attack

As Army generals depart Abuja to their various commands and theatres of operations, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has charged the commanders to secure their commands and barracks to avoid enemy attack, adding that they would be held responsible for any security breach.

The Army boss gave the charge at the Chief of Army Staff Second and Third Quarter Conference 2021 closing ceremony held in Abuja on Wednesday

He also charged commanders to make sure that troops maintain alertness and vigilance at all times to avoid terrorists attacking Army formations.

To Achieve this, he said commanders must co-operate with sister agencies and take the fight to identified locations of the enemy.

Nigerian Air Force denies bombing Yobe community

In reaction to the killing of nine residents of Buhari Village in Yunusari Local Government area of Yobe State on Wednesday, the Nigerian Air Force has denied carrying out any operations in the said area in the past ten days.

The spokesperson of the Air Force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, said the claim that a NAF jet bombed Buhari village and killed about ten people while injuring many others is false. Another Air Force officer who spoke to newsmen on the condition of anonymity revealed that the Nigerian Air Force has commenced investigation on the incident. 

Kaduna Assembly impeaches Majority Leader

The Kaduna State House of Assembly, on Wednesday, has impeached its Majority Leader, Mohammed Inuwa, representing Doka/Gabasawa constituency.

The decision was followed by the passage of a vote of no confidence in him by members of the assembly.

It was gathered that 17 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) signed the impeachment letter and gathered that the house consisted of 34 members.

While Speaking with journalist shortly after the plenary, Chairman, House Committee on Information, Tanimu Musa, said the vote of no confidence was unanimous.

Therefore, Mabo remains impeached and the new majority leader will be announced soon.

FG Promises to Restore Twitter

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on Wednesday, said that the government is working hard to restore Twitter’s operations in Nigeria.

The minister said that they have gone very far but won`t be specific on how far they have gone.

Since the suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria on June 4 by the President, the suspension has affected a lot of telecommunications companies.

Waldrum Applauds Falcons on their victory against Mali

The Head coach of the Super Falcons of Nigeria Randy Waldrum has applauded his players’ win against Mali, in the opening match of the Aisha Buhari Cup on Wednesday.

After being frustrated by the Malians for the most part of the game, the Falcons eventually won 2-0 thanks to two late goals from Gift Monday. The FC Robo skipper opened the scoring in the 83rd minute, heading in Asisat Oshoala’s cross.

And in the 91st minute, Monday doubled Falcons lead after running on to a flicked header before lobbing the keeper. The Falcons will be in action again on Tuesday against Banyana Banyana of South Africa.
