CDS Describes Attack On NDA As ‘Madness’, Seeks Speedy End To Banditry

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor, has condemned the attack on the permanent site of the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna State.

Addressing reporters on Tuesday in Yola, he described the attack carried out by bandits as madness that must be stopped as soon as possible.

Bandits on Tuesday attacked the permanent site of the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna State, killing two officers and abducting one other officer.

 

Insurgency: I Was Attacked More Than 40 Times – Zulum

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, says he has survived many attacks numbering over 40 by insurgents in the state.

He disclosed this on Tuesday at a briefing with State House correspondents shortly after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

He decried the impact of the over one decade-long insurgency which he said has gravely affected the livelihood of the people of the state.

 

Several killed in Fresh Jos Crisis

Several people have been killed in a fresh crisis in Yelwan Zangam community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

It was also gathered that several houses were razed down. This development is coming barely a week after 27 travelers were ruthlessly killed in Gada-biyu – Rukuba road, still in Jos North LGA.

An eyewitness who confirmed this development to newsmen revealed that over 30 people were killed and disclosed that the area is swarming with security operatives.

Efforts to reach the plateau state command for more details proved abortive.

 

NPHCDA Sets Wednesday To Begin Second Dose Of AstraZeneca Vaccine

Federal Government says those who have received their first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine will begin to receive the second dose from Wednesday.

Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr Faisal Shuaib, disclosed this on Tuesday at a briefing in Abuja.

He appealed to those who have taken the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to proceed to their vaccination sites for the second dose for maximum protection against the disease.

Shuaib also asked persons aged 18 years and above who have yet to be vaccinated to visit any of the sites to receive their first dose of the Moderna vaccine.

Zambia Swears In New President

Zambia’s newly elected president Hakainde Hichilema on Tuesday promised to rebuild the ailing economy and alleviate poverty as he was sworn in following an election hailed as a milestone for African opposition movements.

Hichilema also vowed to restore respect for human rights and liberties eroded under his predecessor.

In his sixth bid for the presidency, Hichilema defeated the incumbent Edgar Lungu, 64, by almost one million votes — a landslide spurred by economic hardship and restricted freedoms under the previous regime. #
