CBN Governor Confirms the Printing of N60b
The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has confirmed that the Federal Government printed sixty billion Naira to increase the March 2021 allocation to states.
He stated that printing money to support the states which they will pay back is not new adding that people should avoid adding colouration to it, just as he did in January when Fitch made the same accusation.
Although the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, on Wednesday during the Federal Executive Council Meeting described Obaseki’s claims as sad and untrue, Emefiele explained in a report, that the bank’s interventions are meant to address the ugly economic outlook of Nigeria as it is in an unfortunate bad situation.
Inmates, officers injured in foiled Edo jailbreak
Some inmates and officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service were injured on Wednesday in an attempted jailbreak at the Medium Security Custodial Centre Ubiaja in Edo State.
In a statement on Friday by the spokesman for the Nigerian Correctional Service, Edo State Command, Aminu Suleman, stated that inmates at Ubiaja prison on Wednesday started a conflict by refusing to return to their cells when opened as it is the routine practice.
He further stated that they were eventually repelled and overpowered due to the re-enforcement of armed personnel of the Correctional Service, who were deployed to the Custodial centre to ensure calm and full control of the situation.
He thanked the various security agencies for the effective collaboration and prompt response.
Issuance of New SIM Cards to Resume on Monday, April 19
The Federal Government has given a nod for the reopening of the issuance of new SIM cards to resume on Monday, April 19th as long as verification is done and the guidelines adhere to.
The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami stated this on Thursday in a statement signed by Femi Ademiluyi, a technical aide to the Ministry.

Okorocha Has Gone Home from EFCC Office, Says Media Aide
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has released Imo west Senator, Rochas Okorocha on Thursday.
This is according to a communique by Sam Onwuemeodo, the special adviser on media, to the former Imo State Governor.
In reaction to Okorocha’s trip to the EFCC office, the lawmaker’s team had assured that the former Imo State Governor would fully cooperate with the agents of the agency since it was operating within the ambit of the law establishing it.
Enugu recruits 104 new staff for State Water Corporation
The Enugu State government in a bid to tackle the challenges in the state water sector has commenced recruitment of One Hundred and Four staff for the state water corporation.
In a statement made available to journalists in Enugu, the Managing Director of the Corporation, Engr. Martin Okwor the recruitment is necessary to enhance productivity in the corporation.
According to him, many of the workers of the Corporation lack modern skills to drive the current utility concern for optimal result and service delivery.
Engr. Martin Okwor said the Corporation is understaffed as recruitment have not been carried out over the years.
The Enugu State Water Corporation had on the 8th of April, 2021, called for application for 39 posts in 12 units, namely Engineering, Planning and Design, Operations and Maintenance, Mechanical Electrical Group, Ajali Technical Crews, Oji River Stations, and Zonal Offices Maintenance Teams. Other units are Nsukka Zone, Finance, Public Relations, and Administration.
Enugu State recently experiences a shortage in water supply, which led to the dissolution of the erstwhile water board executive and engagement the Engr. Martin Okwor led the team, with the mandate to resolve water challenges in the state.
