CBN unveils 420 metric tons per day capacity rice milling factory in Kano State
In line with the federal government’s commitment to safeguard the country’s food security and produce what Nigerians eat, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says it has unveiled an ultra-modern 420 metric tons per day capacity rice milling factory in Kano State.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, announced this while speaking at the inauguration of the Gerewa Rice Mill.
He tasked rice mill operators to use the opportunity to get involved in paddy cultivation as part of a cooperation with the Nigerian Rice Farmers Association to ensure a long-term supply.
Emefiele stated that the CBN concentrates on private sector agricultural development and offers millers long-term financing alternatives for commercial farms.
He said that the quality of milled Nigerian rice was comparable to that of rice produced elsewhere in the world.
Wike challenges Amaechi’s aides to present documents over aircraft claim
Several days after the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, travelled to Germany to begin preparation to return the state Aircraft dumped by his predecessor, the governor has challenged those who served in the administration of Chibuike Amaechi to present documents that there was no plan to convert the state aircraft and other valuable assets to personal possession by the former governor.
Wike stated this while briefing political stakeholders at the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday on some of the state assets, including the Legacy 600 jet recovered in Munich, Germany by his administration.
The governor alleged that the reason Amaechi took the plane to Germany was that he felt that he was going to install a governor in 2015 that will cover up the assets.
Bill To Enforce Teaching Of History In Secondary, Tertiary Schools Introduced In Senate
A bill seeking to enforce the teaching of Nigeria’s history across secondary and tertiary schools has been introduced in the Senate.
Sponsored by Senator Adeyemi Oriolowo, the bill was read for the first time during Tuesday’s plenary in the Senate chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja.
Bill To Stop Yearly House Rent In Abuja Scales Second Reading
A bill seeking to stop landlords in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from demanding yearly advance rent payment from tenants, has passed the second reading in the Senate.
Sponsored by Senator Smart Adeyemi, the proposed legislation entitled ‘A Bill for an Act to Regulate the mode of payment of rent on Residential Apartments, Office Spaces, etc in the FCT and for other matters connected therewith, 2022 was read for the second time during Tuesday’s plenary in Abuja.
Senator Adeyemi explained that the intention was to reduce advance payment for new tenants to three months and, thereafter, proceed on a monthly payment schedule.
According to him, the bill will make life less stressful for low-income earners in the nation’s capital as yearly house rent payments breed corruption and huge inequality.
Family Doctor Testifies, Says Sylvester Oromoni Did Not Die Of Blunt Force
The family Doctor who treated the late Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, Aghogho Owhojedo, has testified that he did not see any evidence of physical assault on the deceased.
While answering questions from counsel to one of the accused Dowen College Students, Godwin Omoaka, SAN, the family doctor also told Magistrate Mikhail Kadiri that Sylvester Oromoni Jnr did not die of blunt force trauma.
In the proceedings, which lasted over 7 hours at the Coroners Court sitting in Ikeja, Dr. Owhojedo said he treated the late Sylvester at the Oromoni’s home in Warri because his condition was not life-threatening when he first saw him on the 26th.
The doctor explained that he took blood samples and did a test for full blood count, random blood sugar, and typhoid fever and the result showed he had malaria fever
