WATCH SIGNATURE TV NEWS UPDATE : Gunmen Kill Four, Burn Down Iwollo Police Division in Enugu state
Gunmen on Tuesday attacked Iwollo Oghe Police Station in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State and killed four officers on duty.
The officers died of gunshot wounds sustained in a gun duel while trying to repel the attack.
According to a statement by the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ndatsu the hoodlums, who came to the Station in their numbers, opened fire on police operatives on duty but were vehemently resisted, while several of the assailants escaped with bullet injuries.
Ndatsu who said the operatives were later confirmed dead in the hospital, disclosed that parts of the Station were set ablaze by the assailants.
The Police boss and some senior members of the command visited the police station for an on-the-spot assessment while an investigation has been launched into the attack to fish out the assailants and their sponsors
He also extended his condolence to the families and close friends of the policemen, who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
The Kano state Commissioner of Police Shuaib Dikko says officers and men of the command are now more committed to shun all corrupt tendencies in the discharge of their duties.
The commissioner was speaking when Corruption tori, a programme produced by Signature communications and supported by MacArthur foundation honoured some officers of the command as anti-corruption icons.

According to him, at end of 2021, another 2 billion dozes will be supplied
The Director disclosed that the International Monetary Fund has advocated 50 Billion dollars Covid 19 fund to enable faster and wider Covid 19 vaccination of at least 40% of the world population at the end of 2021

The Ebonyi State police command have arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered firearms and ammunitions in Isu, Onicha Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Loveth Odah, disclosed in a statement issued in Abakaliki on Monday that one of the suspect, Eluu Emmanuel, was arrested alongside the gang leader known as Blood.
Emmanuel made useful statement to the police and led police operatives to the house of other gang members who were alleged to have been terrorising the area and the brains behind various attacks on three Police Divisional Headquarters in Onicha, Abaomege and Ohaozara.
The gang leader was apprehended with gunshot injuries, while others escaped into the nearby bush with bullet wounds.
Items recovered in Emmanuel’s residence were one double- barrel English gun with eleven live cartridges, one locally-made gun and a Riot Police Smoke Gun stolen from Ohaozara Police Divisional Headquarters when the division was attacked on May 6.
Three police batons, two communication radio and charger, one grenade, one canister of teargas, two police belts were also recovered from the suspects.
The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Tinubu has led some party stalwarts in the South West to condole with President Muhammadu Buhari over last Friday’s plane crash in Kaduna.
President Buhari received Tinubu and his entourage at his official residence in the State House, Abuja, on Monday.

Governor Akeredolu who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Doyin Odebowale, warned the Presidential aide and his cohorts to desist from hurling insults at the elected representatives of the people.
He maintained that the President’s aide was not empowered to make such policy statements for the Federal Government and has failed to provide the solution to the farmers and herder’s crisis.
Akeredolu announced that one of the decisions of the Southern Governors forum which is ranching and revival of forest reserves as part of the permanent solution to the frequent clashes between farmers and herder.

It comes just days after Arnault pushed Elon Musk’s worth of One Hundred and Forty-Seven Point Three Billion Dollars out of his spot as the world’s second-richest man after Tesla’s share price sank.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday called on the international community to support Chad to conclude its transition from military to democratic government in a peaceful manner within the set time of 18 months.
President Buhari spoke at the opening of the Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Lake Chad Basin Commission in Abuja convened to discuss the recent developments in Chad after President Idris Deby Itno died on the frontline while defending the territorial integrity of his country.
The Nigerian leader, who declared the one-day summit open in his capacity as the Chair of leaders of Lake Chad Basin Commission member-countries, rallied development partners and countries particularly France, the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia; United Nations, the African Union and the European Union, as well as other friendly and partner nations to support the transition framework put in place by Chad’s Transition Military Council led by General Mahamat Idris Deby.
He stated that the sanctity of the Chadian constitution as the supreme guiding document defining the social contract in the country must be respected.

Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola has been named manager of the year by England’s League Managers’ Association, on Monday.
Guardiola steered City to the Premier League title and League Cup this season and this Saturday the Spaniard’s side will bid to be crowned kings of Europe for the first time when they face English rivals Chelsea in the Champions League final in Porto.
Former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager Guardiola topped a poll where the other leading contenders were Leeds’ Marcelo Bielsa, Norwich’s Daniel Farke, Chelsea women’s manager Emma Hayes, West Ham’s David Moyes, and Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers.
Guardiola said such an award as this is only possible if a manager is surrounded by top professionals.
