World Igbo Congress Calls for massive participation in Voter registration
As the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, begins the third and final phase of the continuous voter registration for the 2027 election, the umbrella body for all Igbo in the diaspora, World Igbo Congress, has called on Nigerians to seize the opportunity to register to vote in the 2027 election.
The umbrella body of the Igbo in the diaspora, in a statement on Monday, said that voter registration and voting in the election helps citizens to elect representatives who canvass their positions on national politics, the economy and the security of lives and property.
According to the world Igbo Congress, actual freedom, equality and fairness are achieved through participating in the choice of those who run the affairs of Nigeria and who the electorate can hold to account.
While encouraging Nigerians to register and vote in the election, the Congress said that not doing so denied the people the right to complain about governance outcomes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the continuous voter registration to run from May 11 to July 10, 2026.
