The Deputy Imam of the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria’s Mosque, Hadiyatullahi Ganiyi says Ramadan fasting is incomplete without showing love and giving alms to the poor in the society. He made the statement at the Association’s Mosque, Abuja during the Eid el-Fitr sermon According to the cleric, Ramadan was a month of love and therefore every Muslim faithful should endeavour to preach the message of love by feeding the poor and beggars around them.
The Eid-el-Fitri, otherwise called the festival of breaking the Ramadan fast, takes place once the moon is sighted, signalling the arrival of the Tenth Islamic month of Shawwal, and automatically the end of the fasting period. Muslims around the country on Thursday crowded prayer grounds to celebrate Eid el-Fitr, one of the holiest occasions in the Islamic calendar amid rising insecurity in the country.
