YPP Candidate Joins Peaceful March Against Udo Ga- Achi Operatives in Anambra
Candidate of the Young Progressive Party, YPP in the November Governorship election in Anambra State, Paul Chukwuma at the weekend joined a peaceful march against the alleged intimidation and abuse meted out to Ndi Anambra by operatives of Udogachi and SASA.
Udogachi, a security outfit created by the Soludo-led Government and the SASA, an anti-touting agency otherwise known as Ndi Akodo has been notorious for allegedly using pestles on citizens.
The operatives came under attack and intense scrutiny in the last few days following the reported manhandling of a female youth corps member serving in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The peaceful match was organized by a group known as ‘Make Anambra Great Again’ which said the peaceful march was against the brutality of the state established security outfits, Udogachi and SASA.
The YPP Governorship candidate who joined the protest regretted that the governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, would allow agencies of the State established to serve the people to become instruments of operation against the same people.
The peaceful march, which commenced from Aroma Junction in Awka, terminated at the Anambra State Police Headquarters in Amawbia, where the group was received by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Ibrahim Ezekiel.
Chukwuma who briefed the command on the reasons for the peaceful march lamented what he said was the abuse meted out to innocent citizens by Udogachi and SASA.
He called on the police to rise up to their responsibilities, while assuring them of the support of Anambra people.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Nkem Mbonu, the group’s coordinator and investigation into cases of missing persons, existence of secret cells of Udogachi in Awka and Onitsha and the disbandment of the outfits.
Responding, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Ezekiel, who stood in for the Commissioner of Police, assured the group that the issues raised would be addressed.
The peaceful march has once again brought to the fore concerns about security operations in Anambra state ahead of the November governorship election in the state.
