Zamfara Gov Proposes N432bn As 2024 Budget

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has presented a N432,523,730 appropriation bill for the 2024 fiscal year. He tagged it the ‘Rescue Budget’.

Presenting the budget to the State House of Assembly tagged, the governor said N113bn, which represents 39.5 percent of the budget, stood as recurrent expenditure, while N305,389bn representing 64.1 percent was voted for capital expenditure.

Giving the breakdown of the appropriation bill, the governor explained that education, security, health and infrastructure had the highest allocation with a view to rescuing the state from total collapse

He explained that the budget would focus on revamping of educational sector, adding that the government had inaugurated Security Trust Fund and recruited 4,300 community protection guards to support security agencies in the fight against banditry.

According to the governor, all ongoing projects would be completed in 2024 while new road projects, including Mallamawa-Bukuyum-Zoma-Gumi, Maradun-Makera and Kwatarkwashi-Mada among others would be commenced.

Earlier, the Speaker of the Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Ismaila Moriki, commended the governor for his leadership that had brought development to the state.

Moriki acknowledged the good working relationship between the executive and the legislature in the state, as he promised speedy passage of the budget.
