The governor of Maiduguri state, Babagana Zulum has called for synergy between the Nigerian Army NA and the Chadian Soldiers to end the war against insurgency in the North-East and other parts of the country.
The governor while receiving a group of delegation, Nigeria Governors Forum in the statehouse stated that the way things are going, the NA required the assistance of others to reverse the insecurity in the country.
He noted that the Chadian soldiers, who were part of the Multinational Joint Task Force MNJTF, were withdrawn from the Lake Chad region in January.
Babagana stated that the synergy was apt considering the recent attacks from Boko Haram insurgents in the North East and calling for external help is pertinent. He, therefore, called on the military authorities to take necessary action towards realizing the synergy.
Earlier, the coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche during a media briefing in Abuja on Friday noted that ‘the synergy is a strategic issue and therefore left for the MNJTF to handle when it comes down to operational level, the Defence Media Operations can comment.’
Major General Enenche further gave an update on the security operations between July to September, he explained that about ‘450 insurgents were killed by troops of Operation Lafiya Dole. He maintained that within this period, 66 kidnapped victims were rescued by troops of Operation Lafiya Dole’.
