2027: Tinubu Should Present His Scorecard, Dele Momodu Says
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has urged President Bola Tinubu to campaign on the performance of his administration rather than political rhetoric as Nigerians prepare for the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on Monday’s edition of Sunrise Daily on Channels Television, the Ovation Magazine publisher said the outcome of the election would ultimately depend on the administration’s record in office.
According to Momodu, President Tinubu has nothing to fear if his government can demonstrate measurable achievements that have improved the lives of Nigerians.
He argued that voters are not motivated by personal sentiments against the President but by concerns over governance and the country’s economic realities.
Momodu also criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for repeatedly blaming previous administrations for Nigeria’s challenges, describing it as unusual for a governing party to publicly discredit its own predecessors.
He questioned what concrete steps the Tinubu administration has taken to reverse the country’s economic and governance challenges since assuming office.
The ADC chieftain also weighed in on the renewed war of words between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Reacting to Obasanjo’s remark that choosing Atiku as his running mate was his “greatest mistake,” Momodu alleged that the former president does not want Atiku to realise his long-standing presidential ambition.
Momodu’s comments come as political activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election continue to gather momentum, with President Bola Tinubu expected to seek re-election, while former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other opposition figures position themselves for the contest.
