2,240 rural women get N20,000 each from FG cash grants programme in Zamfara

No fewer than 2,240 women in Zamfara State have benefited from the Federal Government Cash Grants for Rural Women Programme.

 

This was disclosed to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farug during the formal sharing of the Cash Grants for Rural Women Programme in the state.

 

The Minister, who was represented by the Technical Adviser on Conditional Cash Transfer and Cash Grants for Rural Women Programmes, Abubakar Hashim, said that 160 vulnerable women were carefully selected from each of the 14 Local Government Areas of the State to benefit from the scheme.

 

According to the Minister, the Cash Grants for Rural Women Programme will touch the lives of rural women particularly women with disabilities, married women and vulnerable old women to assist them to start small-scale businesses at home for survival.

“Each woman will be given the sum of N20,000 cash grants, and the programme will be sustained by the Federal government under her Ministry with a view to complement President Muhammadu Buhari’s readiness in alleviating poverty among poor Nigerians and creation of wealth among them to earn a living.”

 

She further revealed that the exercise will be rounding up in the next three days in Zamfara State, stressing that over N44.8 million will be given to the selected benefiting women in Zamfara during the ongoing distributing exercise, calling on Nigerians to continue given all the necessary support to the Federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari to enable him provide basic necessities of living for them.
