Sanwo-Olu, AbdulRazaq head Anambra governorship reconciliation efforts

 

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed governors of Lagos and Kwara states to head its reconciliation efforts on the Anambra governorship election.

National Secretary APC Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee Senator John Akpanudoedehe, announced this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.

He said the decision to appoint the governors followed the recently concluded APC primaries to elect the party’s candidates for the forthcoming November 6 Anambra governorship election.

Akpanudoedehe said the governors were mandated to do everything reasonable and necessary to ensure that all feuding parties, erstwhile aspirants and their supporters close ranks and worked for the APC. #

 

Soldier who killed UNICAL student arrested

The Nigerian Army has announced the arrest of a soldier who allegedly killed a final year student of the University of Calabar (UNICAL).

The Army made the announcement in a statement where Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations said the Army had instituted an investigation into the allegations.

According to reports, Mr Gray Agbesu was on Friday shot dead by a serving soldier deployed on duty at the Calabar Correctional Service facility.

Nwachukwu said the soldier who was arrested while trying to evade arrest, is in the custody of the Military Police and assured the family and the community that the soldier will be duly investigated and made to face judicial processes as deemed appropriate by the law. #

 

2021 Eid-El-Kabir To Be Observed Tuesday, July 20

 

Tuesday, July 20th has been declared as Eld El-Kabir celebration and Sunday, July 11th, as the first day of Dhul-Hijja 1442AH.

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, made this known in a statement released on Sunday.

The Sultan urged the Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for peace, progress and development of the country while wishing them happy Eid-el-Kabir in advance. #

 

 

Court Jails Fake Priest for Fraud In Abuja

 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abuja Zonal Office has secured the conviction of one Jacob Samuel on an amended one-count charge of cheating.

Justice J.O. Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja convicted the defendant after he pleaded guilty to the charge brought against him.

Samuel was said to have falsely represented himself as a genuine priest or spiritualist and induced one Rebecca into delivering to him the sum of One Hundred and Three Thousand Naira.

The court convicted and sentenced the defendant to six months imprisonment with an option of a Fifty Thousand Naira fine. #

 

Euro 2020 final: Football isn’t all about trophies-England declares

The England team has stated that football is not all about trophies, after its loss to Italy in the Euro 2020 finals.

The team made this known in a statement via its official Instagram page on Monday after the Italian team came out victorious in the final Sunday match.

The statement said that Football is family. It’s community. It’s unity. It’s home.

Alongside the statement, the team also noted that they have made some history, even if they failed to achieve their dream. #
