Breaking: Gunmen Attack Anambra Broadcast Station

Unknown gunmen on Monday attacked the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Awada, Onitsha station.

The assailants according to reports, stormed ABS in the wee hours of Monday and set ablaze a building, a company bus, and another vehicle belonging to a staff who had worked overnight.

Neither the government nor the State Police Command has yet commented on the attack, according to reports.

As of the time of filing this report, a staff who spoke on anonymity said they were being interrogated by security agents over the attack.

He promised to give full detail of the attack on them by the gunmen, as he had worked all night and witnessed the attack.

It is worthy to note that the Anambra Broadcasting Service, a State government-owned company has been giving support to the State government in its fight against rampaging gunmen.

Recall that some unknown gunmen had invaded some villages in Orumba North and Idemili North Local Government Areas of the state on Sunday.

The gunmen reportedly killed a mother and four of her children at Isulo village in Orumba North Local Government Area and killed another man in Nanka in the same local council.

It was learned that the gunmen also invaded Abatete in Idemili North LGA and killed two persons during the attack.

Recall that following the killings, some Nigerians have accused IPOB of being behind the attacks, an accusation the group has constantly denied.

In the latest statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful said IPOB’s militia arm, Eastern Security Network, ESN, was not behind the killings.

According to IPOB, killing a pregnant woman is an abomination in Igbo land.
