Popular Nigerian actress, Funke Akindele, may not have taken home an award at this year’s Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, but she has received a wave of support from fellow celebrities and fans who offered her words of encouragement.

Akindele’s “A Tribe of Judah” lost all of its nominations at the 2024 AMVCA.

This was particularly surprising for some as Akindele’s record-breaking film, “A Tribe Called Judah,” secured nominations in several categories, including Best Movie, Best Lead Actress (Akindele herself), Best Supporting Actor, Best Writing in a Movie, and Best Makeup.

Despite the nominations, “A Tribe Called Judah” ultimately went home empty-handed. This sparked a flurry of reactions online; however, Akindele’s industry peers chose to uplift her spirits.

Commenting on Akindele’s picture posts following the AMVCA, actress Tayo Odueke wrote, “Tribe of Judah was a master piece, no doubt 💯 butguess whatt?Youu stillwon and& will continue winning 💪 Alubarika always 🙏 no shaking 🕺.”

Reposting her picture on his Instagram story, comedian Cute Abiola wrote, “See the way she dey look, look her face well, very focused human being! Always showing workings! True definition of greatness. I love you, ma, we keep getting bigger and bigger bags, Insha Allah.”

Similarly, actress Bukunmi Oluwasina, wrote on Instagram, “My best actress.”

It was reported that Akindele’s powerful performance was eclipsed by Kehinde Bankole’s captivating role in Adire, which earned her the Best Lead Actress award.

Similarly, ‘A Tribe of Judah’, which made history by becoming the first Nollywood film to gross N1 billion within 21 days of its release, lost to Breath of Life in the Best Movie category.
