The second republic minister and elder statesman, Alhaji Isa Funtua, has advised those associating him with the post of the Chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari to desist from doing so and search elsewhere.
Alhaji Funtua, 78, told newsmen on Sunday that he is not interested on the job.
“I am an employer of labor and therefore, unemployable. I am embarrassed that a national newspaper could display such level of ignorance by connecting me with the chief of staff job. I was a minister in 1983, what position will I be interested in now,” the elder statesman queried.
Alhaji Isa Funtua from Katsina State, who was also the former President, Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria, Chairman, Katsina Native Authority for seven years, a member of the 1994-95 Constitution Conference and founder, Bulet International Nigeria Limited, (the largest wholly owned indigenous construction company) which built most of the iconic public buildings in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, said he was totally embarrassed by the newspaper write up.
“This is unsolicited and totally embarrassing. I am unemployable and not interested,” Alhaji Funtua who was the minister of water resources in the 2nd republic admonished.
A national newspaper tipped him as one of those under consideration for the post of the chief of staff to succeed the late Abba Kyari who died of COVID-19 last Friday and was buried on Saturday at the Gudu cemetery in the Abuja Municipal Area Council of the federal capital territory, Abuja.
