The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has presented food items to Muslim faithfuls in Makurdi, the State capital, for the celebration of the 2021 Eid Al Fitr.
The Items presented by the governor were 1,200 bags of rice, essential items and an undisclosed sum of money.
The items were presented to the leadership of Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI in Makurdi by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Professor Anthony Ijohor, SAN, on Wednesday.
Ortom stated that he has respect for all religious organizations in the country, adding that preparations were being made to host the Muslim community the usual way until the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 imposed new restrictions. The Governor tasked the Muslim faithfuls to pray for peace and security in the State and Nigeria at large as they conclude their Ramadan, stressing that despite security and economic challenges, there were many things to be grateful for in the country.
The Muslim community in the State, Alhaji Garba Baba while receiving the items said that Governor Ortom believes in God which he has demonstrated by remembering the Muslim community on the occasion of the 2021 Eid Al Fitr.
