Correspondent, Chinemerem Ikegbunam has more:
The story of Hotel Presidential Enugu dates back 52 years when it was built by the Premier of the former Eastern Nigeria, Dr. Michael Okpara as one of the shining symbols of development in the region.
For decades, it thrived as a center of hospitality and excellence before going moribund, crippled by years of neglect, mismanagement, corruption, abuse and long legal battles.
Governor Mbah said the facility is more than a hospitality business; but a strategic enabler of the growth of the state economy.
He thanked the concessioners, the management team, and the people of Enugu for their patience, feedback, and faith in his vision.
At the event, the Enugu State Commissioner for Tourism recalled the rich history of the hotel, hailing Governor Mbah’s efforts in reviving it after years of inactivity.
The Chairman of Enugu North Local Government, Ibenaku Onoh described the intervention as one of the most considerate investments in the local government area.
The commissioning of the Hotel Presidential is seen as a befitting tribute to Dr. Mike Okpara whose legacy in the southeast region has continued to endure decades after his passage.
