Kogi promises Tinubu massive 2027 votes as Presidency team inspects projects

The Kogi State Government and political stakeholders on Monday pledged overwhelming support for President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, saying the President’s economic reforms and ongoing infrastructure projects have earned the confidence of the people.

The assurance was given as the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and the Presidential Media Team concluded the third day of their inspection tour of federal and state government projects across Kogi State.

Speaking at Gbede in Yagba West Local Government Area during the inspection, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, said residents were satisfied with the pace of federal projects in the state and would express their appreciation through the ballot in 2027.

“Therefore, come January 2027, they will show their appreciation at the polls by voting for President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels”, Fanwo said.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Media and Publicity of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Tunde Rahman, Fanwo said President Tinubu’s reform programmes have expanded resources available to states, enabling the Kogi State Government to execute unprecedented development projects across the state.

Leading the delegation, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, said the projects inspected across Kogi reflected the impact of the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and demonstrated that “the hopes of Nigerians are being renewed.”

The team inspected a 15-kilometre asphalted internal road network with drainage and a newly built Primary Health Centre at Gbede, as well as the ongoing reconstruction of the Kabba-Egbe-Omuaran-Ilorin Road being handled by the Federal Government.

Other projects visited included rural road networks in Okene, the International Market in Lokoja, being developed on 16 hectares of land and currently about 50 per cent completed with an expected completion period of 18 months, and the Federal Teaching Hospital in Lokoja.

Dare commended the administration of Governor Usman Ododo for its investments in education, healthcare, roads, security and human capital development, describing them as consistent with the Tinubu administration’s Eight-Point Agenda.

He said the scale of infrastructure executed by the state government complemented ongoing federal interventions across the country.

“We have just driven through a 15-kilometre internal road network in this town. So, the importance of roads, whether internal or federal, is massive. When you look at the five legacy roads across this nation and the over 300 roads across the length and breadth of this country, these are very critical infrastructural developments”, Dare said.

He noted that President Tinubu had placed infrastructure at the centre of his administration’s development agenda, citing the Federal Executive Council’s approval to reconstruct the Kabba-Ilorin Road, which he said had been abandoned for more than three decades.

According to him, the objective is to rehabilitate strategic transport corridors to improve connectivity and facilitate the movement of goods across the country.

“We saw a lot of trucks. We saw two cement factories, that of BUA and Mangal, as we were coming. Without good roads, it would be almost impossible for us to thrive.

“We’ve also seen Primary Health Centres here under the Ministry of Health. Over 1,000 Primary Health Centres have been reinvigorated across this country. So, we can see that the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President is well and alive in health, education, infrastructure, agriculture, manufacturing and oil and gas”, he added.

Welcoming the delegation to Egbe, Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area, Tosin Olokun, and the Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Joseph Oluwasegun, praised Governor Ododo for what they described as unprecedented development in the council area and for appointing two indigenes of the community as commissioners.

In Okene, the Commissioner for Works, Barrister Deedat, led the delegation around concrete-paved inner roads, major bridges and erosion control projects, commending Governor Ododo for prioritising grassroots infrastructure.

He also praised President Tinubu’s economic reforms, expressing confidence that Kogi would remain firmly behind the President in the 2027 elections.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Engagement, Fredrick Nwabufo, said the Tinubu administration’s emphasis on road construction and infrastructure was driven by its broad economic impact and multiplier effect across critical sectors of the economy.
